Winter Vacation - Puerto Galera, the Philippines 2007/01/07

We didn't know what time we were supposed to start our courses, so we went over to the dive shop around 9:00am. We met one of the guys there, got our books, and were told that someone else was starting the course with Andrew. Andrew was told to read the first two chapters, and I was told to do the scuba tune-up review. We went back to the hotel and started studying, and went back to the dive shop at 2. We met Andrew's instructor and the other student in his course. We filled out the necessary liability forms and watched the first video. Then taht was it for the day. After class we wandered into Sabang (the 'town' on the next beach over). We stopped at a restaurant, received sub-par service when we ordered drinks and an appetizer, and so we continued on. We walked around for another few minutes and basically saw the rest of Sabang. We eventually stopped at an internet cafe so I could call Mom to wish her a happy birthday and get her sufficiently worried that I was going to die while scuba diving. Once we finished there, we wandered along the beach back to the hotel. We played some Scrabble, read and relaxed, excited about actually going into the water the next day.
